We had a great first day of summer vacation. In addition to the nature experience, Ruth Anne explored her sound eggs and fabric swatches. She got lessons on sweeping up peppercorns with the dustpan and brush and using the toilet brush, and she helped with every part of making Joe's birthday cake except using the oven.
After much deliberation, I've spared Neil full-frontal exposure, but I'm going to tell another story on RA. Sunday she got permission to go outside in front of the house and eat a peach. Lo, a few minutes later Joe called me to the kitchen window to see her standing and peeing. She'd unvelcroed the diaper she'd insisted on for the day herself. The girl loves cleaning the bathroom but really hates being troubled to go there... Still we take comfort in her independence.
