Carnival - Cheap thrills

The end of Christmas means it's time to dedicate ourselves to the next season of revelry - Carnival. It's so wonderful to crank up the soca music on gray January afternoons and jump and chip and wine and be silly with my babies and my cat. The homesickness of it all makes returning work on my dissertation a bit more invigorating, too. The fact that I sent work to my adviser Friday doesn't hurt either.

This is the season of pancakes. Buckwheat yesterday and more German Oven pancakes this morning.

Neil is really getting into the action. He's spent the past couple of weeks mastering the art of grabbing a washcloth off his chest and bringing it up to his mouth. We have a little bear puppet that he reaches for with open arms. He's also latching onto rings and chewing on them purposefully. His teeth are probably starting to work their way up.

Some other indoor activities I recommend are the bean bag toss (for which I bought a designated waste paper basket a few weeks ago) and broom ball.
