Saturday, Joe and Ruth Anne hit the produce market early, so that Joe could take a Turkmen language field trip to the big bazaar Toulkucha. He was able to buy Turkmen fabric and so on without needing to brave the crazy traffic. While he was gone, Ruth Anne went for a long ride on her “bicycle.” Joe came home played ultimate frisbee while the babies napped and then bagpiped while we played at Sierra and Rory's house. Then we all went together for pizza at a little Soviet Amusement park. Picture the Kiddie section at Lakeside, but smaller and rustier. It turned out that they could only bake one pizza at a time, and we'd made the mistake of ordering three for our two families... The patio was smoky, the music was a little loud, but despite these hassles it was so good to get out! Ruth Anne loved the rides, especially the chairs that swing in a circle and tip out due to centripetal force. I'm looking forward to going again sometime.
Yesterday morning the weather was gorgeous. We finally got the Easter eggs outside for a little spoon racing. Ruth Anne dropped her egg once and then insisted on holding it in the bowl of her spoon with her other hand. It was really cute. Maybe next year she'll be more adventurous.
