Veteran's Day

Joe had the day-off. School was in session but I got off teaching because my students were walking a marathon for PE or ditching. I put in 10 K and went home. In the evening we went to a concert celebrating Tajik-Turkmen relations. It was in the huge auditorium at the Presidential Cultural Center (think Kennedy Center style chandeliers). The auditorium was full of students (smile you're on Turkmen TV) with a few other diplomats. There was pop music that brought back the taste of garlic nan we used to eat in the Indian restaurant in Dushanbe intersperced with dancing (does the term "whirling dervish" mean anything to you?) and some marvelous drumming and dutar strumming. The eye-sore national fabric atlas was a sight for sore eyes. Ah, serving in our first "T" country.
