Last Saturday was Kathleen's birthday and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. Joe made relleno stuffed peppers, tortillas, refried beans, and Spanish rice. Afterwards we drank hot chocolate. "I like it!" Ruth Anne exclaimed. Hers had an ice cube and just a token pinch of cayenne.
Sunday was Gaudete (Hooray!) Sunday. In the morning, Joe and Ruth Anne busily baked Icelandic pepper cookies and make egg salad sandwiches for a holiday cookie exchange in the afternoon. In the evening we took the pink ribbon off our countdown chain leaving just eleven days until Christmas. We're doing the same nativity scene as last year but switched weeks 3+4, so the angel came to say rejoice this week and Mary and Joseph will come next week.
