St Nicholas

Sunday was the feast of St. Nicholas. We've been reading up on different liturgical traditions and have read of several Catholic families that fill stockings or shoes or receive visits from dad dressed like a bishop on this day. Overall we decided that would actually create more Christmas hype than just waiting for the baby's birthday to start passing out presents. Joe and Ruth Anne did make a special treat. St Nicholas's purses. Joe filled some with home made ricotta, some with friend made fig jam, some with chocolate, and some with raisins. RA loved the chocolate but raisins and honey came out the best and most accurately reflect the legend that St Nick gave bags of gold to young women in need of dowries.
